HELLO

NEIGHBORS!

I am Tony Sumnicht and I am running for City Council because our community deserves to thrive.

For the last several years, I have lived in the Forest neighborhood with my rambunctious rescue dog Arlo. Currently, I serve as an at-large member of the Crystal Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission. Before moving to Minnesota to start my career in food safety, I attended UW-River Falls where I graduated with a degree in Food Science. In my free time, I enjoy exploring parks and nature with my dog, staying active through running and the gym, and discovering exciting new bakeries and ice cream shops.

Throughout my life I have been blessed with diverse opportunities to lead and serve my community. I have led a statewide student government, and effectively represented the community I served. I am prepared to take on the challenges we face as a community, and am eager to embrace the unique opportunities of our diverse and evolving city. I will draw on my unique life experiences, a passion for service, and the perspective of a different generation to bring a fresh approach to local government. My goal will always be to make local government more effective, efficient, and accountable.

I would be honored to be your council member and ask for your vote in November.

Sincerely,

Tony Sumnicht

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

TOGETHER, WE CAN BUILD A STRONGER AND HEALTHIER COMMUNITY.

People First

My commitment is to include residents at the start of the planning and budgeting process. You deserve a say, and I hear you. The community input should never be a rubber stamp at the end of the process.

Responsive Representation

I will be your voice. My mission is to listen to your concerns, and be a partner in finding real solutions. Communication is a two way street, and I will work to keep you informed of issues that affect you and your neighborhood.

Thoughtful Solutions

Crystal is a unique city with its own unique challenges. I am committed to taking a thoughtful approach when addressing each issue. Together we must find long term solutions, and not just kick the can down the road.

Building Community

Creating an inviting community starts with designing spaces and services that help foster connections between members of our community and cultivate a sense of unity and identity. Community members should also have peace of mind knowing that our public servants have the training and resources they need to keep all members of our community safe.

Development with Purpose

Crystal has a unique small town feel, but we lack a distinctive town center filled with local shops, restaurants, and community focused businesses. My goal as a member of the City Council is to preserve the small town feel of Crystal, while promoting the transformation of our current commercial area into the vibrant community focused economic and cultural center that Crystal deserves.

Financial Discipline

Our long term plan should embody our shared values and goals, and it should consider the future financial burden on our residents. My commitment to you, as your council member, is to plan for the future needs of our city, invest in areas that need improvement, and whenever possible make city services more efficient and effective.
